Recession forcing seniors to rely on soup kitchens and food pantries

According to a recent article in MSNBC.com, the US Department of Agriculture is reporting an 81% increase in 2008 of the number of seniors using food pantries and soup kitchens (as compared to 2006).

The article goes on to cite several organizations that are confirming increased demand for their resources. It also cites several individuals, all of whom have found it necessary to obtain outside assistance.
